Primary School SEN Teaching Assistant (KS2) – Dover

At our school we believe every child deserves an inclusive and supportive learning environment. We are seeking a passionate and experienced Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant to join our team and make a difference in the lives of our KS2 students.

As a Special Needs Primary Teacher for KS3, you will be responsible for:


  • Developing and Implementing Individualised Education Plans: Tailoring learning experiences to meet each student’s specific needs and abilities.
  • Creating an Inclusive Classroom Environment: Ensuring all students feel safe, valued, and supported.
  • Collaborating with Support Staff: Working closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and other specialists to provide holistic support.
  • Engaging with Parents and Caregivers: Maintaining open communication to discuss progress, challenges, and strategies for support at home.
  • Utilizing Innovative Teaching Methods: Incorporating a variety of instructional techniques to engage and motivate students.
  • Assessing and Tracking Progress: Monitoring students’ academic and social development, and adjusting strategies as needed.
  • Promoting Social and Emotional Development: Encouraging positive interactions and social skills among students.

Qualifications and Skills:


  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Essential for teaching within the UK.
  • Special Educational Needs (SEN) Qualification: Preferable but not essential, though experience with SEN students is required.
  • Experience in KS3 Education: Demonstrated ability to teach and manage a classroom with KS3 students.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Patience and Empathy: Essential qualities for understanding and addressing the diverse needs of students.
  • Creative Problem-Solving: Innovative approach to overcoming challenges and engaging students.
  • Team Collaboration: Willingness to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
  • An Enhance Child and Adult DBS (or willing to obtain one)
