SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Wakefield, West Yorkshire
Salary: £11.72 - £12.78 per hour, based on experience (£19,370.70 - £21,122.66 actual salary)
Hours: 37 hours per week - Term Time Only

We are looking for dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to join our team, supporting young people aged 11-19 with complex needs such as autism, learning disabilities, and communication difficulties.

About the Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the learning, development, and well-being of our students. You will work in a nurturing environment, ensuring each student is encouraged to achieve their full potential. This includes assisting with care needs, managing behaviour, and tailoring support to meet individual sensory and communication requirements.

You will build strong, positive relationships with pupils, helping them feel safe, supported, and motivated in their learning. Collaborating with a team of professionals, you will promote personal growth, independence, and maintain high standards of behaviour. Flexibility is key, as your responsibilities may vary depending on the needs of the students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and evaluating educational activities.
  • Provide feedback on student progress and support their personal development.
  • Manage behaviour positively, adapting to the needs of individual students.
  • Work collaboratively with other professionals to ensure effective support.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience working with SEN students, either paid or voluntary.
  • Level 2 or higher qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (preferred).
  • GCSE Maths and English (Grade C/Level 2 or above) - essential.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Ability to follow plans and adapt to meet individual needs.
  • Positive, creative approach to supporting students' learning and development.
