Exciting Opportunity: SEN Teaching Assistant (Full-Time, Term-Time Only)

Are you passionate about supporting young people and helping them achieve their full potential? We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team in a beautiful setting in Cranborne, Dorset.

Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Cranborne, Dorset
Hourly Rate: £11.72 - £12.78 per hour
Annual Salary: £20,941.30 - £22,835.30 (Term-Time Only)
Contract: Permanent, 40 hours per week, term-time only

About the Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students aged 11-16 with special educational needs, including Autism and associated conditions. Working alongside our experienced teaching team, you will provide both academic and vocational support, helping students excel in their educational and personal development. Whether it's in the classroom, outdoors with Bushcraft, or in life skills activities, your role will make a real difference.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Assist teaching staff by providing additional support and guidance to students
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of young people at all times
  • Help students achieve their Education and Healthcare Plan (EHCP) targets
  • Implement positive behaviour strategies and adapt to individual needs
  • Accurately document incidents, accidents, and health and safety records
  • Encourage participation in group activities, promoting positive social interactions

What We're Looking For:

While previous experience is not essential, the ideal candidate will have:


  • A passion for working with young people and the ability to build trusted relationships
  • Skills in managing a range of behaviours, including those that challenge
  • A positive, creative approach to problem-solving
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Basic numeracy, literacy, and ICT skills
  • GCSE Maths and English at Grade 4 or equivalent (desirable)
