Job Title: Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant

Tradewind are working on behalf of a SEN school based in Runcorn, committed to providing an inclusive and nurturing environment for all of our students. We are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team and support children with a range of additional learning needs. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to children with a range of special educational needs, including autism, learning disabilities, and social, emotional, and mental health needs.
- Assist in the delivery of tailored lesson plans and interventions under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator).
- Support students in developing their independence and social skills within the classroom and school environment.
- Help with the preparation of resources and activities that promote engagement and learning.
- Maintain accurate records of students' progress and report concerns or achievements to the SENCO and class teacher.
- Support students during break times and with personal care if required.
- Contribute to a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere, ensuring all students feel valued and supported.
What We Are Looking For:
- Previous experience working with children with special educational needs, either in a school or a care setting.
- A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach to supporting children with diverse needs.
- A good understanding of child development and knowledge of a range of SEN, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and learning disabilities.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A proactive attitude to professional development and a willingness to attend relevant training and workshops.
- A Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent, is desirable, but not essential.
- A DBS check will be required for the successful candidate.
