Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Contract: Full-time, Term-time only

Tradewind are working on behlaf of a friendly and supportive school in Ellesmere Port, committed to providing high-quality education for all our students, including those with special educational needs (SEN). We are looking to expand our dedicated team with a compassionate and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting children with diverse learning needs.

Job Description:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students with a range of special educational needs, both in the classroom and during individual sessions. You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to ensure that every child can access the curriculum and reach their full potential. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is looking to make a real difference in the lives of young learners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist students with SEN in accessing the curriculum and engaging in class activities.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with varying needs, including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and physical disabilities.
  • Help implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and support specific learning strategies.
  • Support students with personal care needs, as required.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external agencies to support student progress.
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Foster independence and encourage social and emotional development.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • A genuine passion for working with children and young people with SEN.
  • Experience working in a school or similar educational setting (preferably with SEN students).
  • A relevant qualification such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) is desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to supporting diverse needs.
  • A clear understanding of safeguarding and child protection.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with specific SEN needs (e.g., autism, speech and language difficulties, learning disabilities).
  • Knowledge of various teaching strategies and interventions to support SEN students.
  • First aid training (or willingness to undertake training).
