SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: York, North Yorkshire
Salary: £83 - £100 per day
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Part Time, Monday to Friday, 12pm to 3:30pm

GSL Education are seeking a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support a young child in the Early Years Foundation Stage at a Client Primary School in York, North Yorkshire. The role requires someone who is patient, understanding, and skilled in supporting both physical and communication needs.

SEN Teaching Assistants Responsibilities:


  • Provide 1:1 support to a child with Cerebral Palsy over the lunch period and during their afternoon sessions, ensuring their safety within school.
  • Assist with mobility around the classroom and school environment.
  • Implement tailored communication techniques and work with non-verbal communication methods.
  • Encourage independence and provide personal care assistance if needed.
  • Be involved in tracking, assessing and providing feedback on the child's progress.  

SEN Teaching Assistants Requirements:


  • Must hold the Right to Work in the UK.
  • Experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant, particularly with children in EYFS.
  • You should have a relevant childcare or education-based qualification.
  • Understanding of the needs of children with Cerebral Palsy.
  • Have patience, empathy, and a positive approach to helping children.
  • Experience with non-verbal communication techniques.
  • Hold a Child only DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
