The Role:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other support staff to assist in the delivery of tailored education plans for students with SEN. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting students on a 1:1 basis or in small groups to engage with the curriculum
  • Helping students with personal care, communication, and mobility needs
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of individual learning plans (ILPs)
  • Promoting a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment
  • Supporting children with their social and emotional development
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals to support student progress

What We Are Looking For:

We are looking for someone who is patient, empathetic, and motivated to support children with special educational needs. Ideal candidates will have:

  • Experience working with children or young people (preferably within an SEN setting)
  • A genuine passion for working with children with diverse needs
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage and build rapport with students
  • A proactive approach to supporting both individual and group learning
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to changing situations
  • A team player who works well with staff, parents, and external professionals

Qualifications:

  • SEN experience or a relevant qualification in Special Educational Needs is desirable but not essential
  • Any additional training in first aid, behaviour management, or autism awareness would be advantageous
