Job Title: 1-to-1 Teaching Assistant (Supporting a Child with EBD & ADHD)
Location: Primary School in Accrington

Job Description:
We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated 1-to-1 Teaching Assistant to support a child with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and ADHD in a Year 2 class at a Primary School in East Lancashire.

This position offers an exciting opportunity for an individual with a passion for working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) to make a real difference in a child's educational journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1-to-1 support for a child with EBD and ADHD, helping them access the curriculum, stay engaged, and participate in classroom activities.
  • Implement behavioural and emotional support strategies to help manage challenging behaviours, fostering positive coping mechanisms and promoting emotional well-being.
  • Support the reintegration of the child into the classroom, working closely with the class teacher to gradually encourage their full participation in lessons and peer interactions.
  • Monitor and track the child's progress, providing regular feedback to the class teacher and SENCO to adjust support strategies as needed.
  • Assist with break-time and lunchtime supervision, ensuring the child's safety, supporting social interactions, and promoting positive behaviour during unstructured times.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with EBD, ADHD, or other special educational needs is highly desirable.
  • A relevant qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent (Level 2 or 3).
  • Patience, resilience, and a calm, empathetic approach to working with children with additional needs.
  • An understanding of strategies to support social, emotional, and behavioural development.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
