Level 2 SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Quidenham, Norwich
Salary: Actual salary £21,709.61 - £22,388.59 dependent on experience
Hourly rate: £12.15 - £12.53 per hour
Hours: 40 hours per week - Term Time only
Monday - Friday, 8.30am - 4.30pm (5pm on Thursday, with extra time off another day)

About the Role:
Due to continued expansion, we are seeking dedicated Level 2 Teaching Assistants to join our team at a specialist school in Quidenham, Norwich. You will work collaboratively with teachers and therapy teams to create an enabling environment where students can actively engage with both social and academic activities.

This school provides tailored day placements for students aged 11 to 16 with communication and interaction challenges, specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia, or those on the autism spectrum. With small classes (maximum of 10 students and a minimum of 3 staff per class) and the support of an experienced clinical team onsite, this role offers a unique opportunity to make a real difference.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build warm, caring, and supportive relationships with students, helping them feel safe and enabling them to thrive.
  • Promote independence, personal development, and maintain high expectations of behaviour.
  • Support the delivery of a high-quality, challenging, and differentiated curriculum to help students reach their full potential.
  • Assist the Class Teacher in day-to-day classroom activities and ensure smooth operations.
  • Adapt to the varying and changing needs of the school to maintain a supportive learning environment.
  • Promote the social, emotional, behavioural, cognitive, and physical development of students.
  • Work collaboratively within a multi-professional team.

Requirements:

  • Minimum GCSE Maths and English Language (Grade 4 or equivalent).
  • Level 2-3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or working towards).
  • Knowledge of safeguarding principles and child protection procedures.
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEMH and ASD needs.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle (due to the location of the school).
