We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant (TA) to join a supportive team within a resourced provision at a primary school in Gorton. This rewarding role is ideal for someone with a passion for making a positive impact on children’s learning and development, particularly those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and non-verbal communication needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide tailored support to children with ASD and non-verbal communication needs in a 1:1 and group capacity.
Help the children access the curriculum and engage in classroom activities.
Support the children in their social and emotional development, promoting inclusion and independence.
Work closely with teachers and the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to create and implement strategies for supporting the childrens learning.
Monitor and record progress, providing feedback to teaching staff and parents when required.
Ensure the childrens health, safety, and well-being at all times.
The Ideal Candidate:
Previous experience working with children with ASD and non-verbal communication needs is essential.
Resilient, proactive, and adaptable in a challenging but rewarding environment.
A patient, empathetic, and calm approach, with the ability to build strong, positive relationships with children.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
A relevant qualification in Special Educational Needs (SEN) or a Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential.
A positive, can-do attitude, with the ability to respond flexibly to the child’s needs.
