SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Scarborough | North Yorkshire
Contract: Full-Time, Part-Time, Term Time Only
Start Date: April 2025, May 2025 or September 2025
Salary: £88 – £105 per day

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people with additional needs? GSL Education is looking for caring, adaptable and committed individuals to work as SEN Teaching Assistants in a specialist setting in Scarborough, supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs including Autism, learning difficulties, and communication needs.

Whether you're an experienced classroom assistant or someone with transferrable experience from health and social care, youth work, residential care, support work, social services, or a graduate with a keen interest in special education, we’d love to hear from you.

About the Role as an SEN Teaching Assistant:


  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 or small group basis within a specialist school environment.
  • Promoting engagement, emotional regulation, and positive learning experiences.
  • Assisting with personal care or therapeutic activities when needed.
  • Helping students develop independence, confidence, and social skills.
  • Collaborating with teachers, therapists, and families to support progress.

As the Ideal Teaching Assistant, you should have:


  • A nurturing, empathetic, and patient approach to support.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Resilience and adaptability to meet varied and complex needs.
  • Experience with SEN. Any experience is beneficial, but full training and support are provided.
  • A valid Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply).
