About the role

Vision for Education are seeking a passionate and experienced Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to join a specialised college in Yate. This is a full-time position, with the potential to go permanent.

You will be responsible for day-to-day management of all aspects of SEND departing and ensuring all members of staff working with you students, are aware of their individual needs. You must ensure SEND policy is followed in every classroom & work on developing the school’s policy.

This is an ambitious school and is inclusive of students of all backgrounds, priory attainment or needs.


The SENCO will work with the Senior Leadership Team to develop and implement a personalized curriculum for all learners in the college. This personalized curriculum will help meet the needs of the learners, enabling them to realize their potential. The SENCO will work with the class teachers to ensure planning for the learners' learning and development is based on accurate and regular observations of the stage of development.

Requirements

To be considered for the role of SENCO you will:



  • Teaching qualification (QTS / QTLS)
  • SEND qualification (NASENCO / Post-graduate diploma in SEND)
  • Primary teaching and/or SENDCO experience
  • Ability & confidence to lead and manage staff
  • Be driven and resilient to ensure the best outcomes for young people with SEND


Key responsibilities

As SENCO you will be responsible for:



  • Support, facilitate and monitor the progress of SEN in line with the priorities of the School Development Plan
  • Model good practice to support the development of teachers and teaching assistants
  • Write and review EHCPs
  • Liaising with Local Authority representatives and outside agencies and supporting their work with other staff in the Academy
  • Work with the head teacher to lead on in-house training relating to SEND

Salary

£28,000 to £44,000 per year

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:



  • QTS/QTLS and SEND qualification (preferably NASENCO)
