SEND Learning Support Assistant

Location: Epping

Have you ever considered supporting the Teaching and Learning of children and young people who have severe and complex learning needs?

We are looking to appoint Learning Support Assistants to join our hardworking and friendly team, working to support our special needs children aged 3-19 years within our amazing school.

Key Information:



    • Experience: Not needed; in-house training provided.
    • Working Hours:

      • Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday: 8.50am - 3.20pm
      • Tuesday: 8.50am - 4.20pm (team meeting 3.20pm - 4.20pm every other Tuesday)
      • Friday: 8.50am - 1.10pm



Pay Rate:

     £80-£95 per day 

Role Purpose: To work in partnership with class teachers to support students and their learning in line with the national curriculum, codes of practice, and school policies and procedures.

Principal Accountabilities:


  • Provide skilled support to individuals or small groups of students under the direction of teaching staff.
  • Understand specific learning needs and styles, providing differentiated support.
  • Establish positive relationships with students.
  • Implement planned learning activities and adjust according to student responses.
  • Provide feedback on student progress.

Duties:


  • Support literacy, numeracy, and ICT skills development.
  • Attend to personal care needs, following each student's Care Plan.
  • Promote positive student behavior and keep students on task.
  • Participate in planning and evaluation of learning activities.
  • Monitor and record student responses and achievements.
  • Assist in the implementation of educational and care programs.
  • Select and maintain appropriate resources and specialist equipment.
  • Liaise with staff and other professionals, providing necessary student information.
  • Supervise students during breaks and educational visits, facilitating games and activities.
  • Physically assist students during activities, such as PE.

About our School: a specialist setting catering to pupils aged 3-19 with severe and complex Learning Needs (SLD/PMLD). We offer a bespoke curriculum focused on immediate learning needs and long-term aspirations, creatively removing barriers to engagement and learning. Our approach emphasizes functional communication and Emotional Regulation, including Sensory Integration needs. We use evidence-based strategies and work collaboratively with therapists for holistic pupil development.
