Sheffield  

Temporary – Permanent (Full time Position) – Flexible working hours available. 

£420 - £465 Per Week 

Start date: 4th of November 2024 – Flexible start dates available

The role   

This school is a dedicated SEND specialist in Sheffield, providing tailored support for children aged 11-19 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) and autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The nurturing environment fosters individual growth and learning. 

We are seeking a passionate SEND Teaching Assistant to support children with speech and language difficulties, heightened anxieties, and varying levels of autism. Your role will involve creating a calm and supportive atmosphere, providing personal care, assisting with hoisting and mobility, and administering medical interventions as needed (training provided).

Responsibilities: 


  • Support the Class Teacher and Senior Leadership Team in delivering the curriculum and student support. 


  • Comply with policies on child protection, health, safety, confidentiality, and data protection; report concerns appropriately. 


  • Ensure all students have equal access to learning opportunities. 


  • Contribute to the school’s ethos and goals, appreciating the roles of other professionals. 

Requirements  

The desired Candidate will have:  


  • Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), particularly those with speech and language difficulties and autism. 


  • Understanding of hoisting and mobility assistance; must be hoist trained or willing to complete training. 


  • Training in relevant learning/behaviour strategies e.g. SEN, Team Teach, Positive Handling, First Aid 


  • Patience and empathy in dealing with diverse learning and behavioural challenges. 


  • Open to ongoing training in specialised care and support procedures relevant to SEND. 


  • Relevant qualifications and experience within education or related fields of work. 


  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
