SEN Teaching Assistant – 1:1 Support

A welcoming and inclusive two-form entry primary school in Southwark is seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team and provide dedicated 1:1 support for a child with complex SEND needs.
The Role
The school is looking for a compassionate and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to support a child in Year 3 with significant developmental needs. The child has a cognitive age of approximately 18 months, is non-verbal, and requires full-time 2:1 support. Due to the complexity of the role, the child may require physical intervention, and as such, Team Teach training is essential.
This role requires someone with a patient, positive, and calm approach, who has experience working with children with severe learning difficulties and additional needs. You should be confident in implementing strategies to support the child's communication, sensory, and emotional regulation needs. Experience in using PECS, Makaton, or AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) would be an advantage.
This is a full-time, long-term position starting in April, providing a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a child’s educational journey.
