Senior Accountant

Your new company Hays has been retained exclusively to recruit a recently qualified accountant to join their Belfast team. Our client is a global business that is the leading provider of services within its market. Our client is looking to add to their accounting team based on a site in Belfast. This is a fantastic opportunity for a recently qualified accountant who is looking to learn how to be an accountant in the commercial world and gain the skills to be a Financial Controller. The Finance Director in this organisation is passionate about teaching people how to deliver commercial accounts and work within business. Your new role You will have the responsibility for the general ledger of the company through completing all sections of the Profit and Loss, and the Balance Sheet for the Monthly Management Accounts and Annual Statutory Accounts Preparation. You will also provide support to the Operations side of the business, giving them commercial information and supporting the decision-making process. General Ledger responsibilities including Sales Reporting, Cost of Sales, Margin Analysis, Customer Profitability, Fixed Asset Ledger, Bank Reconciliations, Intercompany process management and Cross Charges, Payroll Submission Review, Prepayments Posting, Accruals Posting, Payroll, SOX compliance, VAT Submissions & Intrastat Submissions. Operations responsibilities include inventory, annual standard cost revisions, working closely with the operational team, and KPI reporting. Reporting responsibilities include Statutory Accounts Pack preparation; Tax Packs; Quarterly Reporting Submissions. Preparation of internal & external audit files and liaison Ad hoc project work and reporting Input to continuous improvement projects What you'll need to succeed You will be a Qualified Accountant who is looking to learn and develop as an accountant in an industry setting. You will have excellent excel skills and strong analytical skills. What you'll get in return You will get the option to WFH and this is quite fluid. The salary for this role would be between £42000 - £45000 per annum.
