Following a large increase in workload, a leading independent multidisciplinary company working nationwide providing design consultancy and on site testing services to the majority of the UK's main contractors have a requirement for a Senior Acoustic Consultant with a strong background in Building Acoustics to help grow and shape their Acoustics, Noise and Vibration department. Successful applicants will have a proven track record in consultancy relating to building and engineering projects, you will also have strong project management and business development skills with a good working knowledge of the building regulations. Qualifications
Degree in acoustics, physics, mechanical engineering or other related discipline
Corporate membership of the Institute of Acoustics
Chartered status preferred
Experience
Proven relevant building acoustics experience gained working in an acoustics consultancy on building projects (including schools, commercial and residential developments)
A full, clean UK car driving license would be preferred
Good written, verbal and presentation skills
Be numerate, literate and familiar with IT and software appropriate to the project tasks
Good working knowledge of all relevant codes of practice and industry standards
Be able to work and travel throughout the UK and occasionally overseas.
Strong technical, commercial, mentoring and interpersonal skills
An ability to communicate effectively
Be keen to identify and develop new work streams/opportunities
Be commercially aware
Be highly motivated, conscientious and diligent with attention to detail
Flexible and prepared to take on a new challenge.
Experience of ODEON modelling will be an advantage
Duties
To undertake and manage the acoustic input to our building and engineering projects
Attend design team meetings and advise architects and engineers on design issues relating to acoustics, noise and vibration.
Prepare commercial proposals and project manage the acoustic input to projects
Assist with business development activities and client relationship management.
Resolve complex acoustical engineering issues assuring compliance with statutory bodies
Supervise and co-ordinate the work of others
Manage project teams to ensure production of deliverables to agreed timelines
Financial forecasting and control of projects to ensure that they remain within budget
Contribute to group expansion and develop and maintain business through networking, contact nurturing and presentations
Projects
Examples of projects include road schemes, bridges, harbors, schools, sports stadia, offices, hotels, hospitals, tall buildings, buildings for performance, airports, convention centres and high quality residential and commercial developments.
