Lloyd's is seeking to recruit a Senior Senior Actuarial Associate within the Syndicate Capital team . The candidate should demonstrate technical expertise in the review of various aspects of syndicates capital models. In addition they will review of the work of junior analysts and manage particular work areas within the Syndicate Capital team. As a member of the MRC team, you may also be expected to be involved in the wider team activities, including reserving and the parametrisation of the LIM (Lloyd s internal model). Market Reserving & Capital (MRC) is the actuarial department in the Corporation and is responsible for market oversight as regards monitoring the adequacy of reserves and capital at syndicate level, and for the calculation of capital requirements for members and the Central Fund. Within MRC, the Syndicate Capital team ca rries out all oversight tasks relating to syndicate capital, including: Review of submitted SCR s Detailed reviews of syndicates internal models as part of deep dives Review of syndicate major model changes Thematic reviews Principal Accountabilities Syndicate capital reviews: Undertake autonomous and risk-based review of syndicate models to assess the appropriateness of a syndicate s capital Syndicate deep dives: Undertake detailed review of a syndicate s internal model, against the Capital Principle of the Principles of Doing Business at Lloyd s Syndicate major model change reviews: Undertake review of syndicate major model change submissions Contribute to thematic reviews: Thematic reviews are undertaken to understand how syndicates are managing specific risks that are likely to impact the majority of the market (e.g. claims inflation, cyber and non-nat cat risks, geopolitical risk). Communications in particular: Interact with external stakeholders, including managing agent capital and management teams on processes and areas arising as part of capital oversight. This includes taking on the role of a point of contact for a subset of syndicates; Present conclusions and recommendations from review work to the Actuarial Oversight Review Group (AORG); Liaise with internal teams as required as part of capital review or other oversight activity, including Syndicate Performance, Exposure Management and Performance Management to ensure consistent and co-ordinated approaches; and Contribute to external communications to PRA and market. Assume project lead responsibilities, managing projects to successful delivery Lead the work of junior members of the team on the projects and pieces of work in which they are involved in, providing guidance and technical assistance. Line manage junior team members (the candidate will be assigned one or two direct reports) Knowledge and Experience Qualified or nearly qualified as a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (or equivalent). Experience in non-life insurance work, preferably with experience in capital modelling. Experience in managing project work to completion. Knowledge of the actuarial techniques involved in non-life insurance. Knowledge of various IT tools including Excel, Access, Word. Knowledge of / interest in programmatic approaches, including the use of VBA, R and capital modelling tools.
