Senior BI Developer

A proactive Senior BI Developer is needed to join the IT team of an award-winning employer at their office near Exeter. This a great opportunity for someone seeking to play a crucial role in supporting the continuous digital transformation across a forward-thinking professional business.

Senior BI Developer – The Rewards:

Salary: £48,000 - £52,000pa plus superb benefits including 25 days holiday + bank holidays, pension, life cover, employee support programme, ongoing training and development and so much more!

Hours: 37.5 hours per week between 8:30am – 5pm Mon – Fri

Location: Near Exeter / some home working available once established in the role

Senior BI Developer – The Role:

The Senior BI Developer will be working as part of the team supporting the business with delivering insightful and actionable business intelligence and reporting. Duties will include:

• Taking the lead on the design, build, delivery and continuous improvement of insightful business intelligence solutions using BI tools, technologies and methods using Power BI.


• Contributing to the maintenance of pre-existing reporting solutions in SQL/SSRS, including the consolidation of these and phased migration of these to more modern solutions.


• Business partnering stakeholders at all levels to understand business challenges, opportunities or requirements and then delivering BI solutions which provide actionable insights.


• Supporting BI development standards, providing standard and consistent approaches to dashboard design. Involvement with day-to-day performance, maintenance and monitoring of our data and BI platforms.


• Collating, building, cleansing and segmenting datasets from multiple source systems for use in BI and reporting solutions.


• Supporting project processes to define reporting and BI requirements.


• Identifying and raising opportunities where reporting, analytics or BI solutions can help to improve business performance.

Senior BI Developer – The Person:

• You will have a track record working in BI development, experience of Power BI is essential and knowledge of other BI tools advantageous.


• Proven experience of SQL and data management is required, experience of cloud-based data management tools eg Azure, and storage/data lake solutions are desirable.


• You’ll have an analytical approach to problem solving with a proactive approach to understand business processes and identify opportunities for improvement.


• A confident communicator, you’ll be able to build rapport with colleagues at all levels and explain complex information in an understandable manner


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


• Please note the postholder will need their own transport due to office location, in addition this role may require occasional travel to other offices.
