Role: Senior Bridge Design Engineer (Freelance)



Client: Engineering Design Consultancy�



Location: 2-3 days East London(on-site), 1-2 days in Manchester ideally (Remote/ Hybrid possible depending on location)



Expenses: Accommodation/ Travel available - negotiable



Contract Type: Freelance/Contract (Outside IR35)�



Day Rate: �300 - �400 per day (depending on experience)�



Start Date: 14th October 2024



About the Role:



We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Bridge Design Engineer to manage the quality and technical aspects of bridge repair designs for cast iron and steel highways bridge project. The role primarily focuses on the assessment and design of repairs to a 19th and 20th-century bridge.



You will be required to work 3-4 days per week from the site office in East London, with the option to work remotely for the remaining days. Travel and accommodation will be provided as necessary depending on your location.



Key Responsibilities:




  • Delivering design packages that meet safety and quality standards.�

  • Producing design calculations, reports, and specifications.�

  • Directing and developing CAD technicians and junior designers.�

  • Ensuring compliance with relevant technical and professional standards.�

  • Preparing and attending IDC meetings and design presentations.�

  • Managing project changes for design packages.



Skills and Qualifications:�




  • 10+ years of structural and/or civil engineering design experience.�

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in bridge repair design.�

  • Proficient in design software such as TEDs, Ansys, STAAD, and/or MATHCAD.�

  • Knowledge of Engineering Drawing Practices.�

  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership.�

  • Strong technical knowledge and problem-solving skills.�

  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.�

  • Experience in temporary works design is a plus.
