Job Description

Job Purpose:

The Senior Buyer will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing goods and services to meet the organisation's operational needs. A proactive approach with strong negotiation skills and a keen eye for market trends, is required to contribute to our strategic procurement objectives and drive cost-effective solutions. It is a fast-paced, growth environment that requires optimisation of supply chain efficiency. The Buyer will assist with a wide range of duties within the Purchasing function.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate Purchase Requisitions, Raise Purchase Orders and monitor supplier delivery dates. Communicate any risks/issues to the Procurement Lead and work to resolve
  • Expedite urgent and outstanding orders to support Production and ensure Delivery target of >98% is achieved.
  • Develop effective relations with company suppliers, partners and stakeholders
  • Responsibility for all purchasing projects as required and identified by the Procurement Manager, including for site services, Production Composites Materials, Machined metallics & other general commodity's on an international supply chain.
  • Purchasing goods and services at the best Cost/Quality/Lead Time.
  • All admin duties arising from the above including; accurate maintenance of computer files, filing of quotes and purchase order duplicates, up to date records of NDA/SDR and Vendor Assessments
  • Provide weekly task report to Procurement Manager
  • Assist Procurement Lead in developing suitable supplier relationships and reducing inventory
  • Take part in NPI activities for new projects
  • Identify and deliver cost saving projects across direct and indirect spend
  • Support new development projects and ongoing business growth.
  • Other duties as required, including:
  • Comply fully with internal and external quality Audits
  • Be responsible for the wellbeing and Health & Safety of fellow workers
  • Work within the guidelines set out in the company works procedure manual and the company Quality Procedure Manual
  • Contribute to future growth and profitability of the company

Qualifications & Experience:

Essential

  • Purchasing experience (3 years min)
  • manufacturing environment (1 year min)
  • Knowledge of MRP systems
  • CIPS/Degree in relevant subject (level 5 or working towards)
    Desirable
  • Experience of Aerospace and/or Composites industry
  • Composite Raw Material
