Senior Buyer

During a period of continued growth and acquisition for this bespoke protective equipment manufacturer, there is now an opportunity for a proactive purchasing professional to join the team to support purchasing development at their site in St Helens.

Reporting into the Purchasing Manager, key responsibilities as Senior Buyer will be to: -

• Negotiate favourable terms for the business with new and existing suppliers.
• Purchase goods, raw materials and services to meet cost, quality and delivery targets.
• Identify and improve current transactional processes within the purchasing function.
• Reduce inventory and improve supplier lead times.
• Drive supplier improvement activity for delivery, quality and cost.
• Prepare and raise purchase orders.
• Implement and report on supplier performance measures, identifying risk to supply chain and work to resolve.
• Compile data relating to supplier performance.

The successful candidate will: -

• Have purchasing experience gained within manufacturing.
• Have a proactive approach to supplier negotiations.
• Be able to build strong relationships with suppliers.
• Ideally be CIPS qualified or willing to study.
• Have excellent interpersonal and influencing skills.
