Overview
We are seeking a Senior Cargo Analyst with a strong understanding of cargo trades,
particularly wet bulk
, and familiarity with sanctions compliance and maritime industry regulations. This role is critical for delivering a comprehensive dataset analysing cargo data over an 2-3 month engagement, with a possibility of extending. Depending on project success, this position may transition to a full-time role.
Essential Qualifications
Experience:
3-5 years in OSINT research, data analytics, or modelling; senior analyst or team lead in business intelligence, consultancy, or data research.
Consulting & Analysis:
Proven experience as a consultant or lead analyst on complex datasets, delivering productionised models in an agile environment.
Stakeholder Management:
Strong skills in managing stakeholders, including external clients.
Strategic Thinking:
Customer-centric approach with a history of driving product innovation.
Problem Solving:
Proactive and business solution-focused problem solver.
Communication:
Ability to simplify complex themes for methodology documents and communicate strategic recommendations to C-suite leaders.
Project Management:
Excellent skills in project management, prioritising tasks, and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Task Execution:
Complete all tasks within agreed project deadlines.
Customer Requirements:
Capture and playback customer requirements, ensuring deliverables meet the project scope.
Agile Work:
Operate in an agile format with two-week sprints, delivering on project timelines and driving commercial growth.
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with product management, data engineering, data science, and front-end development teams.
Process Documentation:
Document key processes and methodologies, providing confident and concise recommendations.
Training & Onboarding:
Train and onboard new colleagues as required, promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing within data teams.
Client Engagement:
Serve as a subject-matter expert, attending client calls alongside sales and product management.
Desirable Qualifications
Maritime Industry Knowledge:
Comprehensive understanding of different segments of the maritime industry is a significant benefit.
Innovation:
Dynamic approach to problem-solving.
Commercial Acumen:
Understanding of working with CAPEX budgets and product discovery.
Coaching Skills:
Ability to coach and train junior analysts and peers.
Competitor Analysis:
Experience with competitor mapping and benchmarking using open-source and primary interviews.
Presentation Skills:
Confident in presenting to internal and external audiences.
Customer Query Resolution:
Experience in resolving complex customer queries.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Big Data management tools like SQL, Python, or experience with natural language processing (NLP) datasets is an advantage.
