I have an exciting opportunity for a PASSIONATE and DETERMINED individual to join a residential service in the Presteigne area of Powys as a Senior Children's Support Worker.
The service prioritises the needs and wants of its young people, and tailors the care & support they provide to motivate young people to take ownership of their own lives while encouraging their learning and development.
Job Title: Senior Children's Support Worker
Salary: £31,472 - £33,177 (sleep allowance included)
Location: Presteigne, Powys (LD8 postcode)
Hours: 40 hours per week
Shift pattern: 2 on 4 off
Contract: Permanent

Responsibilities:
- To encourage the young people to do activities and take responsibility for their own lives depending on their age.
- To support the manager and team in all aspects of the day-to-day operations, including managing staff teams, and budgets and ensuring that the quality of the services provided meets expected care standards.
- To keep the homely, friendly culture and environment of the homes.
- To be able to deal with challenging behaviours when needed.
- Protect children and young people from risks to their health and welfare.
- Provide support for the children and young people in the home and promote their independence and well-being.
- Ensuring the safety of the young people and maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of the individual's; care plan, guidelines, reward system and preferred method of communication.
- Supporting taxing behaviour safely and sympathetically.
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with the staff, parents, Social Workers and other professionals that may be involved in the young people's lives such as Psychologists.
- Organise and participate in activities and holidays, ensuring risk assessments have been followed.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years experience supporting challenging behaviours ESSENTIAL
- Level 3 NVQ in Children & Young People or equivalent ESSENTIAL
- You must hold a Full UK Manual Driving Licence as you'll be required to transport young people from time to time ESSENTIAL
- Children Homes Regulations and Safeguarding Knowledge ESSENTIAL
