Job Title: Senior Civil Engineer Infrastructure and Drainage
Location : Newcastle upon Tyne
Salary : Up to £85,000 (dependent on experience)

We are seeking a talented Senior Civil Engineer to join a dynamic infrastructure team based in Newcastle upon Tyne. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced civil engineer with a proven background in UK-based consultancies to contribute to exciting infrastructure and drainage projects across residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments.
About the Role As a Senior Civil Engineer , you will lead the design and delivery of infrastructure and drainage projects, working closely with multi-disciplinary teams and clients. Your expertise will ensure technical excellence, timely delivery, and compliance with UK standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities Lead the design, development, and delivery of infrastructure and drainage projects for residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments.
Prepare detailed calculations, technical reports, and drainage strategies to support planning applications and project delivery.
Oversee the design of surface water and foul drainage systems, SUDS, highways, and utilities.
Mentor and manage junior engineers and technicians, ensuring team growth and development.
Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and multi-disciplinary teams to achieve project objectives.
Ensure all projects comply with UK design standards, including DMRB, SuDS, and Water Authority specifications.
Contribute to project budgets, timelines, and quality control while identifying opportunities for improvement.
What Youll Need A minimum of 3 years experience working in UK-based civil engineering consultancies .
Strong background in infrastructure and drainage design , including surface water and foul drainage systems.
Proficiency in relevant software such as Civil 3D, MicroDrainage (WinDes), AutoCAD , and similar design tools.
Knowledge of UK design standards and regulations, including SuDS, DMRB, and local water authority guidelines.
Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field (Chartered status with ICE is desirable).
Proven experience mentoring and managing junior team members.
Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
Right to work in the UK without sponsorship.
