Reporting to: Head of Climate and Carbon Location: London office, hybrid Competitive salary: £55-70k/yr depending on skills and experience As a Senior Consultant, you will be responsible for leading a broad range of projects for our clients from carbon footprint calculations to setting net-zero targets and working on innovative strategies to support our clients to decarbonise. You are an expert in carbon footprinting, with practical experience of quantifying emissions across multiple companies and industries. Your role will require you to analyse large and complex data sets whilst also being able to communicate these with impact to our clients. As a Senior Consultant, you will have line management responsibilities and will form a pivotal role in the success of Simply Sustainable. We have a very collaborative approach to our work and create a supportive atmosphere to allow ambitious individuals to shine. Through this role, you will be seen internally and externally as a subject matter expert in climate and carbon. If you have a specialist area, this will be fostered and encouraged through training and the ability for you to win your own work and develop your specialism further. Key accountabilities & responsibilities: You are responsible for leading and supporting multiple climate and carbon projects and delivering exceptional quality technical, practical and strategic support for our clients. You will have the opportunity to lead a specific industry area (e.g. Financial institutions, agriculture etc) or a subject matter deep dive (e.g. financed emissions, regenerative agriculture etc). Whilst you will be all over the details and have excellent technical knowledge relating to carbon footprinting, you will also be able to present this clearly and concisely to a range of audiences, including C suit and board level. You will lead net zero projects that will require you to bring your knowledge of setting climate targets aligned to the science and your experience in developing decarbonisation plans and strategies to meet these targets. You will use your excellent research and analytical skills for analysing a wide range of sustainability information and data, accurately and on time; producing professionally written reports and presenting the results with recommendations to clients, ensuring these are within budget and exceed the clients expectation. As a highly engaging communicator, you will be required to facilitate internal and external workshops to develop innovate approaches to support the needs of our clients. As a self-starter you are motivated to keep up to date with the trends, the science and best practice, using the information gained to develop leading-edge tools/documentation for our clients. Your advice to clients is always appropriate and accurate, wowing them with your level of knowledge and its relevance to them and their sector. Your organisational skills mean that your project management is always on point, this is important as you will be accountable for running multiple projects at once, recording actions, managing timelines and ensuring project plans run smoothly. To help with this you will have experience in project management tools (such as CMAP, Salesforce, Slack, Agile). At Simply Sustainable, our projects are managed through CMAP. Responsible for keeping projects on track and to budget will require you to have a excellent approach to collaborating with the team balancing where you lead, delegate and do. You will be responsible for managing the weekly resourcing of your projects and supporting the resourcing of the wider team, including highlighting any potential issues with the Head of Climate and Carbon. Enhancing existing client relationships by being a great asset to the team and building repour with our clients. Ensuring communications are timely and appropriate at all times and aiming to exceed client expectations for project specification and ultimately the delivery. As a key member of the Simply Sustainable Team, you will contribute to the overall growth strategy and thought leadership of the company. This will include developing new workstreams, products and services as well as working on proposals with new and existing clients. You will also share your knowledge internally and collaborate with our marketing team to build a profile externally. We encourage you to build your expertise, knowledge and network in this role and will support you in doing so. As a Senior Consultant you will have line management responsibility and will work with the Head of Climate and Carbon to grow and develop our team of Consultants. You will be responsible for the development and mentoring of interns and Graduate members of the team as and when required. Key skills and knowledge At least 2 5 years experience of working in a Consultancy, working with UK- based and global corporate businesses across a range of sectors Educated to degree level or equivalent, any additional qualifications or sector memberships will be seen as a positive. Proven track record of practical hands-on experience in calculating complex carbon footprints. Good knowledge of climate science and developing or implementing net-zero transition plans. Highly proficient in Excel, able to manage complex calculations and large datasets. Exceptional, writing, communication and analytical skills Excellent project management skills Excellent all round communication skills including presentation and facilitation skills. Ability to manage detailed complex information and present this clearly to clients. Excellent accurate and up-to-date knowledge of trends and developments surrounding sustainability and ESG. Proven ability to deliver high-quality work on time and on budget. Experience of data analytics, visualisation and practical business intelligence software using PowerBI or Tableau.
