Senior Controls Engineer

  • Location: Coventry
  • Job Type: Full-time

We are seeking an experienced Senior Controls Engineer to join our design team in Coventry. This role is ideal for a professional with a strong background in control systems design, looking to contribute to bespoke solutions in the Metrology market. The successful candidate will be involved in projects from concept to delivery, working closely with a skilled team.

Day to Day of the Role:

  • Interpret customer requirements and develop novel concepts to meet these needs.
  • Critically appraise designs within the team to ensure robustness and reliability.
  • Support technicians in assembling and testing designs.
  • Develop Windows software in C++ and PLC software in Siemens TIA Portal.
  • Design and layout electrical systems using ePlan electrical software.
  • Create cables, build electrical units, build and test PC systems, and occasionally wire cabinets based on documentation.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience in software design (PLC or Windows).
  • Experience in electrical design.
  • Good general engineering understanding and knowledge.
  • An aptitude for problem-solving and developing solutions for complex problems.
  • Excellent communication skills at both technical and project levels.
  • Strong organisational skills with high accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proficient IT skills.

Desirable Skills:

  • HND/Degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Experience with CE marking.
  • Experience with industrial networking (Profinet or other protocols).
  • Experience in the integration of software with control systems.
  • Experience in fault finding on electrical and electronic systems.
