Our Global Analytics department was newly assembled and structured in June 2023. In a short time the team has already proven to be a key differentiator; delivering industry-leading, high-value services that create measurable business impact for our clients. As a team with various different capabilities, Global Analytics services approximately 40 different clients. As a Senior Data Scientist, this role will have the opportunity to work with our largest clients at varying altitudes; managing the relationship, guiding the vision and roadmap for our clients to evolve the way they analyse and leverage data to deliver outcomes. In fulfilling the responsibilities outlined below, the role will consult with our clients, and simultaneously with our internal cross departmental teams. Croud operates a hybrid working mode l with a minimum of 2 days a week based in our London office and the remaining days from home if you wish. RESPONSIBILITIES The Senior Data Scientist will complement our team of analysts and engineers bringing increased knowledge and expertise with data science methodologies, working systematically to improve supervised machine learning performance and work directly with clients to ensure high business impact from our data science solutions. At Croud we run a number of cloud hosted modelling services which apply predictive methods to client data about their customer behaviour particularly in relation to marketing, website interactions and online conversions. We primarily use Python and classical ML techniques, although have also used deep learning networks where appropriate. These methods require custom adaptations in terms of features, optimization methods, and ML algorithm selection, as well as robust training and evaluation. You will help apply and improve the approaches we have developed, working collaboratively with the team. Additionally, you will enhance the overall data science analysis and modelling process. You will engage with data scientists and analysts at our client organisations, discussing optimal approaches to challenges, demonstrating expertise, and working to improve outcomes for all parties. Manage data science and ML projects so that technical goals are met within a reasonable agreed timeframe. Communicate clearly about your work with clients and to help other team members understand what you are doing and why Produce explanatory insights for non-technical users through visualisations, metrics and tabulations, in support of communication and collaboration Interface with our clients to ensure we get the data inputs we need and they fully understand how to apply our services Explore and model large data sets using Python, SQL and related tools Take a leading role on tasks such as data exploration, model estimation and validation Write clean, efficient, robust and well commented code to produce high quality data science procedures Engage in depth discussions with both technical and commercial teams about the data science aspects of the projects you are working on Work with data engineers to ensure your algorithmic work can be scaled Understand, apply and communicate the wider Croud Analytics team s work and methodologies to both clients and internal stakeholders Proven aptitude and ability is required in these areas. PERSON SPECIFICATION You are someone who is both confident with data science and data analysis and also with communicating complex ideas and topics. You would prefer to work in a quickly growing company where you are directly engaged with client companies and can learn and develop fast. You are prepared to work hard on stimulating problems. You have natural mathematical and analytical skills, good judgement, attention to detail and a passion for finding solutions. You have knowledge and training in statistical methods and in supervised machine learning. You have a proven aptitude in working with data, and a desire to further develop your career in data science. You bring experience working in a professional role or project in applied machine learning. You can explain data science topics in written and verbal form, including to a group if necessary. You bring a positive attitude to your work, have the curiosity to explore new ideas, and respond well to feedback. Skills required: Master's degree or PhD, or relevant experience in a field emphasising quantitative disciplines, with coursework in machine learning (or alternatively, a quantitative advanced degree complemented by extensive training in data science/ML) Proven experience in applied machine learning through a prior full time role Knowledge and experience of using computer programming languages including Python and associated ML libraries Strong statistical knowledge Ability to communicate the results of data analysis and modelling High level of proficiency in English writing and speaking Strong client services skills, able to both explain complex concepts to clients and manager expectations on delivery and impact when necessary Strong time management and organizational abilities, capable of prioritizing tasks effectively and working autonomously Good to have: Experience with putting machine learning models into production in a cloud environment Knowledge and experience of marketing effectiveness measurement and marketing optimisation techniques Experience in web analytics, marketing analytics and digital marketing Experience using other analytical tools and with a range of AI and ML libraries COMPANY BENEFITS Croud offers a clear path to progression for all members of staff.
