Our client, a leading organisation in the maritime industry, is currently seeking a Senior Design Engineer - Warship Aviation to join their team on a contract basis.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assisting in the production of estimates and design requirement specifications.
  • Developing, promoting, and sharing new technologies for implementation across businesses and programmes.
  • Taking technical or design authority for sub-systems, while typically not accountable.
  • Working independently or as part of a small team.
  • Producing Layout Drawings for aviation compartments for stakeholder review and accurate modelling.
  • Updating Windchill PLM with mature parts, systems, occurrences, and compartment data to present the baseline design.
  • Writing and updating Technical Equipment Specifications and coordinating with suppliers for specification compliance.
  • Coordinating with systems engineers and detail designers on the integration of aviation systems.
  • Supporting HAZID and Safety Reviews.
  • Supporting Design Reviews and Zonal Reviews.
  • Supporting the development of Aviation documentation.
  • Interacting with international partners and suppliers.
  • Undertaking functional design and/or providing qualification and evidence for acceptance, fitness for purpose, legislative requirements, and safety.
Job Requirements:
  • Knowledge and experience of naval and/or commercial ship systems, with the capability to support system and spatial integration issues with other disciplines.
  • Proficiency or experience with ship aviation design is desirable.
  • Competency in using CAD software such as AutoCAD or FORAN is desirable.
  • Experience with Certification through Naval Authority Groups is desirable.
Qualifications:
  • Degree qualified (RQF Level 6/SCQF Level 9) or equivalent experience in a technology, engineering or science-related discipline.
  • Working towards Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or registered as Incorporated Engineer (IEng).
  • Basic membership of a Professional Engineering Institute recognised by the Engineering Council.
