Intertek Electrical are currently looking for aSeniorTest Engineer to be based in Milton Keynes.This is an important and exciting opportunity as Intertek looks to grow its engineering team to meet market requirements.
The roles key purpose is to complete electrical safety evaluations for Interteks global client base. Working within the Intertek Electrical UK team, the senior test engineer would work closely with clients to evaluate their products and documentation to ensure they meet specific requirements of the applicable test standards. The role will also involve working across all departments within UK Electrical, providing technical support to operations, sales, and marketing.
Required skills and experience:
Essential:
Relevant Electrical/Electronic formal qualifications or degree
Good IT Skills, experience with excel, word and data retention systems
Experience of working in accordance with a Quality Management System
Attention to detail and ability to navigate/interpret ambiguity of standards
Ability to make technical decisions and engineering judgments independently
Strong lab/test/data analysis/troubleshooting/reporting skills
Ability to communicate effectively with customers and other members of the team
Desirable:
Background in product safety testing, grid code, inverters, EV charging, BESS, energy storage
Experience and knowledge in multiple electrical safety standards e.g. IEC/EN 50549//UL 1741 SA/IEEE 1547/60335/62368/60730
Knowledge and experience of certification schemes, processes, and country requirements
Experience in safety critical function design/electrical product development/grid compliance/high voltage
Experience of generating test reports for customers and certification purposes.
Experience working in an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory
Experience with Yokogawa, or other data acquisition and analyzer tools, AC/DC simulators, RLC load bank and communication interfaces
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Key activities:
Responsible for assessing training of the technical staff and development of new training programs
Provide on-going support and guidance on technical issues, procedures, and standards interpretations
Provide quotes for a large array of standards and complex projects and products
Research new standards, technologies, and trends in standards
Support accreditations activities such as audit follow-up and corrective actions
Recommend and prepare capital expenditure requests and manage capital projects
Manage assigned projects within Intertek guidelines
Assess technical documentation and processes against standard requirements
Develop, set up, and follow established test plans
Provide project updates to customers, as well as management
Reviewing and signing off other engineers projects and test reports
Training of engineering team
Provide technical support for internal and external audits
Complete and review Interteks evaluation test reports to standard and within set timescales
Provide technical support to the business
Attend customer calls and meetings
