Day-to-day, your focus will be on leading project works whilst delivering technical details, specifications, signalling plans, designs, drawings, calculations, information and estimates for signalling works and checking the quality of output is to the required standards, to achieve the safe implementation of signalling projects to the agreed specifications, timescales and authorised budget constraints. A vacancy exists within the Road & Rail Traffic Control Systems, Signalling Design team. You will report to the Senior Engineering Leader and will have proven relevant experience. This role is one of succession planning, you will work closely with your team & colleagues in the business and project stakeholders to lead on the delivery of engineering solutions & opportunities that keep vital, innovative and multi-disciplinary big-budget projects moving. Direct the preparation of technical details, specifications, signalling plans, drawings and estimates for signalling design works and interfacing with other engineering disciplines within multi-disciplinary projects to meet agreed timescales and authorised budget constraints Carry out independent verification (checking / approving) of Signalling designs and deliverables as required Ensure that the technical and safety standards are maintained in all aspects of the design work in order that successful project implementation and future reliability is achieved Discharge responsibilities in relation to CDM Regulations, Health and Safety legislation and Company procedures Assist with the training and development of the Signalling Design team Prepare and deliver briefings to staff on technical and procedural matters, including participation in relevant training Provide functional support and guidance as Design Lead to the Design Engineer(s) within the team on all aspects of Signalling Design Provide support and input to Project Managers and Project Engineers on allocated projects Participate in and monitor the planning and progress of works in relation to timeline and budget and ensure that the development, design, installation and testing requirements are met, providing remedial action when required Hold an IRSE Signalling Principles Designer license Hold an IRSE Signalling Design Verifier license (or be working towards it) It s also important you bring a passion for the TfL Vision and strategy as well as your technical expertise.
