We are currently looking for a Senior Estimator to join our Highways team in Castleford near Leeds. As well as Castleford, this role is easily accessible from Leeds, Barnsley, Doncaster, Rothwell, Oulton, Swillington, Garforth, Wetherby, Whinmoor, Oakwood, Bradford, Dewsbury, Wakefield, Headingley, Pontefract, Halifax, Rotherham, Sheffield and the surrounding areas.This is a great opportunity to make a difference and the role comes with company car as well as annual bonus and other great benefits.Were working hard to create a dynamic and inclusive environment and its important that our people come from a variety of different backgrounds.Main ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Area Commercial Manager, the Senior Estimator will work closely with the Estimating Manager. The focus of the role is to help the Commercial Team achieve the forecasted budgets through the pricing of work and the effective management of the tendering process.As Senior Estimator you will also be responsible for: Negotiating and winning work contracts Managing and developing effective relationships with new and existing customers, working well as a part of a team Managing the production and submission of all pricing work for the contracting business whilst ensuring compliance with internal review procedures Securing and developing new business opportunities, ensuring quality, competitive tenders are submitted, and key targeted contracts are won, taking into account business capacity, margins, financial and contractual risks Undertaking pre-contract commercial reviews to identify opportunities and risks within proposed future contractsDetailed analysis of subcontractor/supplier quotations for inclusion with tenders and producing and submitting tender handover report to the operations delivery teamDeveloping and influencing bid strategies and researching market trends and data for bid winning Ensuring compliance with policies and procedures including Health and Safety, Environmental and SustainabilityCoaching and developing Apprentices within the teamThe Ideal CandidateSuitable candidates for the role of Senior Estimator will ideally have a commercial estimating background gained within highways surfacing however if you have experience working within a civil engineering environment then we would welcome your application.As a Senior Estimator you should also be able to evidence:Operational technical knowledge ideally gained within highways sector Experience of pricing different tenders including local authority and major schemesAbility to develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders of varying seniority levels working together to secure work and enhance profitabilityExcellent communication skillsAbility to influence others and work collaboratively as part of a teamStrong commercial acumen and capability to work to tight deadlines Good attention to detailStrong drive to succeed, improve and innovateProven sales skills and the ability to successfully negotiateWorking knowledge in the application and use of NEC 3 and 4 forms of contract Experience of Causeway 3 Estimating software (desirable)Why UsIn addition to the role of Senior Estimator we also offer an extensive range of career development opportunities and industry-leading rewards, incentives and benefits including:Company carBonus schemeEnhanced holiday entitlementContributory pension schemeAccess to the Tarmac Reward website with discounts on retailers, holidays, etc.Access to our Employee Assistance helpline for free and confidential adviceAccess to join our Employee Communities (employee networks) we currently have nine communities inc.(REACH) Religious, Ethnic, Cultural Heritage, LGBTQ+, Parents & carers, Ability, Wellbeing, Female voice and menopauseTraining and development opportunitiesInterested?
