Job Opportunity: Maintenance Team Leader



Role Overview:�We are seeking a dynamic individual to join our high-performing team at the Folkestone Road Depot as a Maintenance Team Leader. This role is ideal for someone currently working as an In-house Maintenance Manager, Supervisor, or an experienced Maintenance Operative looking to advance into management. This position involves a blend of responsibilities, with approximately 70% of the role focused on leading the maintenance team and 30% supporting the Building Services Manager.



Key Responsibilities:




  • Support the Building Services Manager in delivering both hard and soft facilities management (FM) services across the depot and deputise in her absence.

  • Manage the in-house repairs service, including the supervision of the maintenance operative. As part of a small team, you will act as Team Leader and work hands-on alongside the maintenance operative to carry out maintenance tasks.

  • Supervise external contractors, ensuring they work safely on site and complete jobs satisfactorily.

  • Assist with major FM projects led by the Building Services Manager.

  • Conduct regular site inspections to proactively identify issues and ensure the site is health and safety compliant and fit for purpose.

  • Monitor and control expenditure on building materials and FM consumables.

  • Perform weekly and monthly tests on fire equipment, generators, hydrant pumps, and more.



Working Hours:




  • Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. (36 hours per week).

  • As the depot operates 24/7, flexibility to work late evenings and weekends when required is essential.



About You:




  • Technical Skills: Strong background in facilities management with hands-on experience in plumbing, carpentry, flooring, and minor electrics is essential.

  • Leadership: Ability to lead and work alongside a small team, managing in-house repairs and supervising external contractors.

  • Problem Solving: Proactive approach in identifying and addressing maintenance issues, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.

  • Organisational Skills: Highly organised with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively, managing multiple demands within tight timeframes.

  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to provide great customer care and develop strong working relationships with internal teams and external contractors.

  • Work Ethic: Self-motivated, able to work independently with minimal supervision, and committed to delivering high standards in a fast-paced environment.

  • Health & Safety: Knowledgeable about health and safety practices in premises management.
