Job Description Job Title: Grid Connections Engineer Location: London City (hybrid working) About the Role We are seeking a dynamic and ambitious Grid Connections Engineer to join our clients Engineering team. This role offers a unique opportunity to be part of a rapidly expanding renewable energy company, poised for significant growth. As a Grid Connections Engineer, you will be a crucial member of a small, agile team, driving the grid connections process. You will manage relationships with Distribution and Transmission Network Operators and the System Operator, addressing complex engineering challenges to secure optimal connection strategies for our projects. Key Responsibilities: Site Identification: Assist in locating potential new sites across the UK for deploying solar, wind, storage, and other opportunities within the distribution and transmission network. Grid Applications: Prepare and advise on grid applications to DNOs and the National Grid Electricity System Operator Offer Analysis: Analyse grid offers and collaborate with network operators and external grid advisors to mitigate risks and secure cost-efficient grid connections. Technology Optimisation: Identify and evaluate emerging technologies and techniques to optimize grid connections, ensuring compliance with distribution and grid codes. Feasibility Studies: Assist with feasibility studies for Private Wire connections, including behind-the-meter setups, routes to export, and grid capacity assessments. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and policies for existing and future connections. Project Support: Assist with project valuations, support due diligence for acquisition opportunities, and aid in project sales. The role is based in the London City office and hybrid working is available. Required Experience Education: Ideally degree educated within electrical or engineering (Master s preferred) or relevant experience. Industry Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years in the energy industry, with direct experience managing grid connections Technical Knowledge: Understanding of power system studies and distribution and/or transmission network operations is preferred.
