Senior Hardware EngineerCeto are looking for an experienced hardware developer to join our team and lead the ground-up development of our IoT data capture devices.Working closely with our technical leadership and engineering team, you’ll be joining the company at a point where you can make a significant impact.What We're DoingWe capture real-time, high-frequency engine, equipment and navigational data from ships. This data is funnelled into our analytics pipeline where various ML and AI models detect anomalies and suggest maintenance interventions before problems arise. As low earth orbit internet solutions start to provide connectivity to vessels trading deep sea, we’re perfectly positioned to transform how the maritime sector uses data.The RoleWork closely with our marine and software engineers to understand the technical requirements and constraints of our hardwareDesign, develop, test and ship new hardware solutions that interface with new control protocols, to be installed on marine vesselsWork closely with our software and data engineers to understand the data requirementsDesign, develop, test and ship the embedded software for these hardware solutions.Analyse and maintain existing hardware, suggesting improvements where required.Guide, mentor and transfer your knowledge and experience to the wider teamSolve challenging hardware challenges every dayHave funRequirementsExcellent knowledge of Modbus (RTU, ASCII, TCP/IP), CANbus, and other communication architecturesProven record of developing hardware and industrial IoT/industry 5.0 devices for capturing and monitoring data from control systems in commercial environmentsA good understanding of software lifecycleAbility to write great, clean, memory-efficient code.Comfortable with selecting and configuring integrated design environments to produce platform agnostic solutionsExperience with git and GitHub in large team environmentsStartup mindsetAbility to thrive in ambiguity and uncertaintyInitiative and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication skillsEnjoy being challenged, and challenging othersDeep technical understanding of low-level code including C, C++ and Rust, including:Bootloader designFamiliarity with embedded real-time operating systemsData acquisition techniquesWorking knowledge of the hardware design process, including:Component SelectionSchematic designPCB LayoutElectronics ArchitectureRegulatory Processes (UKCA/CE/FCC)Electronics design for manufactureIdeally, YouHave worked in a startup or scaleup previouslyHave a solid understanding of basic mechanical conceptsHave a deep understanding of the maritime industry (or might even have worked at sea)Have a degree in electronics or electrical engineeringWhat's On OfferSalary between £65-75kStock Options (0.1% - 0.25%)25 days holiday + public holidaysBonus schemeFlexible workingWork from Anywhere – Flight contributionFriday BeersSocial eventsAbout UsWe're a team of highly motivated individuals obsessed with new and developing technologies.
