Copello have partnered with an established engineering business based in Dorchester in the recruitment of a Senior Hardware Engineer.





Please note all candidates must be eligible for SC Clearance.



Key Responsibilities:




  • General Engineering Activities: Engage in hardware engineering tasks across all stages of the engineering lifecycle, from design to validation.

  • Customer and Supplier Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact with customers and suppliers on engineering matters, resolving issues and ensuring that priorities and objectives are aligned.

  • Engineering Decision-Making: Make informed engineering decisions within your area of responsibility to support project success.

  • Team Support and Development: Mentor and guide less experienced engineers, contributing to their development and ensuring the team's effective working.

  • Reporting and Presentations: Produce technical reports and plans, presenting findings to line managers, project teams, and peers.

  • Task Delivery: Ensure that allocated tasks are completed within agreed budgets and timelines.



Essential Skills and Experience:




  • Proven experience in hardware engineering, including requirements development, simulation, design, integration, and verification/validation.

  • Strong understanding of the engineering lifecycle and hardware engineering methodologies and practices.

  • Competence with hardware engineering tools and techniques.

  • Experience with hardware design, interconnectivity, and troubleshooting design issues, particularly those arising from obsolescence.



Desirable Skills and Experience:




  • Experience with COTS (Commercial Off-the-Shelf) hardware, particularly in blade and PC technology.

  • Knowledge of COTS cabinets, cabinet design, wiring schedules, and power distribution.

  • Hands-on experience in designing and building electrical and hardware systems for successful acceptance.
