AWE is currently recruiting for a Senior Health and Hygiene Specialist
The Senior Health and Hygiene Specialist will provide subject matter expertise in the assessment and control of risk to health associated with actual, planned and/or decommissioned facilities, plant, equipment, or product. They will advise on and develop strategies, methodology for assessing, managing, controlling, and recording risk to health in line with relevant legislation and guidance, industry standards and AWE procedures and guidance.
They will also carry out workplace monitoring of health risks through quantitative and qualitative techniques and reports data back to the health risk assessment to help ensure ongoing control.
Key Accountabilities:
Provision of specialist technical expertise within the health and hygiene subjects under their control.
Preparing health and safety management system documentation for health and hygiene subject areas under their control.
Understanding the legislation, guidance and research; identifying shortfalls and opportunities for improvements to the management processes; proposing these to the Head of Health and Safety for approval.
Carrying out and analysing data from monitoring activities and reporting the conclusions to the business along with suitable recommendations.
Demonstrating to Head of Health and Safety the suitability and implementation of Health and Hygiene management processes through appropriate metrics for health and hygiene subject areas under their control.
Coaching others in Occupational Hygiene practice in their areas of expertise.
Support Production operations and other assets/functions by ensuring the timely recognition, evaluation, monitoring, and control of health risks in the workplace.

You will need to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role. This will be funded by AWE. The nature of our work does mean you need to be a British Citizen who has been resident in the UK for the past 5 years in order to apply for SC clearance and 10 years for DV.
