Job Opportunity: Senior HV Plant Substation Design Engineer - Net Zero
Our client is at the forefront of the UK energy sector, driving the transition towards a net zero carbon future. They are delivering cutting-edge projects and playing a critical role in the decarbonization of the UK’s energy infrastructure. As part of their expansion, they are seeking a Senior HV Plant Substation Design Engineer to join their Electrical Engineering team.

About the Role: You will lead the technical design and development of high-voltage substations, working closely with multinational electricity and gas utility companies. Your responsibilities will include providing technical leadership on FEED and Detail Design workstreams, ensuring quality assurance, and coordinating resources and training. You will also review HV plant aspects, manage tender packages, and attend site visits and reviews.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Lead FEED and Detail Design projects for transmission and distribution clients.
  • Ensure quality assurance and delivery of design work.
  • Act as BP141/equivalent assurance engineer.
  • Review HV plant aspects of projects, including layouts, earthing design, and technical specifications.
  • Coordinate with back-office engineers, sub-contractors, and suppliers.
  • Manage tender packages and review design packages.
  • Attend site visits, FAT, and SAT as required.

Essential Criteria:


  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards it.
  • Experience in substation design within the UK transmission sector.
  • BP141 / TP141 HV Substation qualification or ability to obtain it.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Flexibility to travel to client sites as needed.

Salary:


  • £65,000-£85,000
