Job Overview To Research, analyse, design, propose and deliver IT architecture solutions that support the business and IT strategies in one or more architecture domains (infrastructure / applications / business process / data). Key duties and responsibilities: Develops and maintains the architecture roadmap for one or more architecture domains that support the business and IT strategies. Leads the effort to ensure that common architecture decisions are implemented across one or more architecture domains (infrastructure / applications / business process / data). Leads the effort to provide integrated systems analysis and recommends appropriate hardware, software and communications solutions. Leads the effort to support, resolve and document issues that arise in the IT architecture. Specifies and designs large or complex systems. Selects appropriate design standards, methods and tools and ensures they are applied effectively. Reviews others systems design to ensure selection of the appropriate technology and efficient use of resources. Establishes and maintains the policy for the selection of architecture components. Produces detailed component specifications and translates these into detailed designs for implementation using selected products. Provides advice on aspects of system development and integration and ensures that the relevant technical strategies, policies, standards and practices are applied effectively. Manages the provision of specialist knowledge over a range of topics including the role of IT in the business. Sets standards, strategies and procedures across the development lifecycle. Maintains an in-depth knowledge of specific technical specialisms and provides expert advice regarding their application. Serve as a subject matter expert for any decision affecting their architecture domain(s). Complete all work in accordance with GxP requirements (GMP, GLP, GCP and GPvP) and any required standards using the appropriate SOPs, methods and tools. Any other duties deemed necessary by management. Essential Criteria: Applicants must therefore demonstrate the following essential criteria on their application form in order to be considered: BSC in Computer Science, Information Technology or related subject(s) or equivalent work experience. Typically 10+ years of experience in multiple IT areas and 5-7 years of relevant architecture experience. Experience working in a manufacturing or pharmaceutical environment. Experience working with third party IT service providers and niche consultancies. Experience of the principles and practices involved in solutions development, maintenance, service delivery and project delivery. Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of at least one specific technology area and a broad understanding across a wide field along with a track record of applying such knowledge. Demonstrates the ability to take significant responsibility and shows skill in the management of change. Demonstrates excellent inter-personal skills and confidence dealing with colleagues. Demonstrates a high level of responsibility and ownership of technical issues. Good communication, time management and organisational skills. Good MS-Office (Word / Excel / Project /) and MS-Sharepoint proficiency Desirable Criteria: Due to the nature of the role preference will be given to applicants demonstrating the following desirable criteria: TOGAF or Zachman Certified or equivalent recognized architecture certification. Experience working in a regulated environment. Good knowledge of Microsoft Server Platforms ), Active Directory, MS Exchange, LAN/WAN Administration and MS-Access. Good Knowledge of CRM, SCM, ERP, MES or LIMS systems. Knowledge of virtualisation technologies (VMWare / Citrix ZenApp). Knowledge of backup technologies (Symantec BackupExec / Veem). Knowledge of Process Modelling Frameworks (APQC) and Tools (Visio).
