About the Role:
We have an immediate opening on the Legal team for an enthusiastic and talented employment lawyer to join our close-knit team, with the role based out of the United Kingdom. Our global Legal team supports all of Confluent’s initiatives by providing pragmatic advice and counsel. We are a friendly, collegial group that thrives on working together to solve complex challenges.
On the Employment Legal team specifically, we provide strategic and practical employment advice on matters across the entire employee lifecycle. Our aim is to be a trusted source of support for our stakeholders and to drive employment compliance in all the regions in which we operate.
This position reports into the Associate General Counsel, Employment (who is based in the United States):
Responsibilities
Partner with cross-functional teams to provide strategic, business-oriented legal advice on a full range of employment issues.
Draft, revise, and advise on employment-related documents, including offer letters, separation agreements, confidentiality agreements, variable compensation plans, bonus plans, policies, trainings, etc.
Collaborate with relevant internal teams to create and implement scalable employment-related policies, processes, and trainings to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Effectively utilize and manage external counsel.
Conduct or support employee investigations and assist with employment litigation, as needed.
Monitor employment-related legal developments in EMEA.
Qualifications
6+ years of experience as an employment attorney, in a top tier law firm and/or in-house legal department of a multi-national company supporting business needs across a number of EMEA countries.
Outstanding legal and business judgment with the ability to assess and communicate risks to stakeholders in a clear and actionable way.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain legal concepts in a way that makes it comprehensible to the general employee population.
Experience and aptitude working with cross-functional stakeholders to resolve questions and concerns in a timely manner.
Excellent interpersonal skills with a dedication to teamwork, respect, and integrity.
Demonstrated ability to independently manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic, and ambiguous environment.
Licensed to practice as a legal practitioner in the United Kingdom.
