The ECRS is a source of expertise for clients and Deloitte practitioners on the direction and impact of regulatory change across industry and its implications for firms’ business models and strategies. Eminence and insights are at the heart of Deloitte’s client strategy, and the ECRS is a critical part of delivering that. Regulation relevant to competition in digital markets, and consumer protection in digital services, is a key part of the ECRS digital markets regulatory team. This is a fast-moving area with regulatory developments that are having a significant impact on both the economy and wider society. From social media to search, app stores to AI and online choice architecture to cloud; all of it is within the team’s remit. We are now hiring a senior manager to join the team. Working in the ECRS you will be expected to help shape our digital markets agenda, have an unparalleled opportunity to develop strategic thinking, and apply your knowledge of international, European and national digital markets regulation. You will work with colleagues to provide insight and advice to Deloitte practitioners and to a wide range of our clients on digital markets regulation, including senior stakeholders. This includes:maintaining an overview of regulatory developments in digital markets and services in the UK and at EU level, including through tracking new policy initiatives, identifying the most significant emerging topics and developing expertise in them;working with ECRS colleagues and Deloitte subject matter experts from other teams to determine the strategic and operational impact of new and emerging digital markets and services regulation;developing a range of written thought leadership material to package and publish your insights and research in an accessible and engaging manner, tailoring the messages to a range of different audiences;working closely and effectively with the ECRS leadership team and senior stakeholders across Deloitte’s EMEA network and beyond, and maintaining a regular dialogue with regulators, policymakers and industry associations;presenting analysis and insights to clients in a range of settings including bilateral meetings and webinars; managing your time to deliver work within agreed deadlines;ensuring the quality of outputs meets the ECRS and broader Deloitte standards; contributing to cross-team initiatives, to enable Deloitte to “join the dots” across multiple regulatory initiatives and market developments;People management (including line management and coacing/mentoring); andSupporting broader ECRS management.Connect to your skills and professional experience The scope of the ECRS is broad. Candidates are expected to be able to demonstrate how their areas of existing expertise or interest in digital markets will contribute to the ability of the ECRS to deliver on its remit.EssentialExperience in a regulatory environment relevant to digital markets and services. Ideal experience would include (but is not limited to) work at a regulator, trade body, law firm or a regulated company in the technology sector. A strong understanding of key digital markets and services regulatory initiatives in the UK, EU and internationally. We are particularly interested in candidates with strong competition experience and expertise, with experience of both competition and consumer protection (including online safety and the broader digital consumer protection agenda) a bonus.  Knowledge of other digital regulatory frameworks such as AI and Data would also be useful.An understanding of strategic challenges and trends in digital markets and services regulation and the technology industry more generally, including large digital platforms' business and operating models.Strong analytical and problem solving skills as well as the ability to process large amounts of information and summarise it effectively.Strong interpersonal skills and the confidence to liaise and build relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.Excellent time and workload management skills, and the ability to work flexibly under pressure.Clear and confident presentation and business writing skills.The ability to take a flexible approach to tackle a wide range of tasks including: analytical research; client presentations and report writing; and hands-on involvement in the development of ECRS products and broader operational and management activities within the teamPersonal independenceRegulation and controls are standard practice in our industry and Deloitte is no exception. These controls provide important legal protection for both you and the firm. We are subject to a number of audit regulations, one of which requires that certain colleagues abide by specific personal independence constraints (e.g., in relation to any financial interests and employment relationships). This can mean that you and your "Immediate Family Members" are not permitted to hold certain financial interests (shares, funds, bonds etc.) with audit clients of the firm, and also prohibitions on certain employment relationships (e.g., you are not permitted to hold a secondary employment role with SEC audit clients of the firm whilst being employed by the firm).
