Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

The position: We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our F1 Mechanical Design group, working on a wide variety of projects. Collaborating with the Group Principal / Head of Mechanical Design, you will be responsible for undertaking and guiding a range of designs from initial concepts through to prototype production working closely with other Engineering departmentsResponsibilities:Design mechanical, hydraulic, and composite components and assemblies from concept through to detailed design across a variety of systems on the car.Perform background stress and sizing calculations, producing supporting documentation.Conduct design reviews independently or in conjunction with the Principal Engineer or Head of Department.Serve as a point of contact for engineering support, leveraging significant experience.Mentor less experienced engineers within the team.Take end-to-end ownership of projects, including manufacture, build, testing, racing, and fault analysis and resolution, requiring close collaboration with the wider team.Support the checking of detailed drawings, including design review against specifications, previous designs, and competitor analysis.Drive continuous improvement and promote autonomous creativity.Ideal Candidate Qualifications:In-depth understanding of fundamental engineering principles with experience in a similar role within motorsport.Relevant degree or equivalent qualification supported by design experience in motorsport, aerospace, or a related field.Ability to manage a diverse workload and prioritize work to meet varying deadlines.Strong CAD skills, ideally with experience in Siemens NX (training provided for conversion from other CAD systems).Experience with simulation modeling and basic stress calculations.Data analysis experience is beneficial.
