Senior Mechanical Design EngineerLocation: South East Scotland
Position Summary & Key Areas of ResponsibilityThis position involves being responsible for leading the media handling mechanical design and support team. You'll work closely with various departments, suppliers and customers to ensure our devices meet top industry standards. Previous experience leading a design team, especially with electro/mechanical systems controlled by software, is essential. The successful candidate will have knowledge of: New Product design and lifecycle support of existing products from a mechanical perspectiveExperience in the Design of Mechanisms, working with tooling suppliers and parts manufactureProven track record delivering cost effective designs to specification and engineering standardsIn depth understanding of supplier engagement and change managementCollaborate with Engineers from different disciplines to enable system wide integrationDesign validation via design reviews, stress analysis, assembly tolerances, testing and problem correction CLCAEnsure work products are released using the approved system with all relevant documentation required to implement your design changeQualificationsA Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Hons 2:1 or better preferred).Strong understanding of Mechanical design principles and technologies.Minimum 6 years’ experience developing or supporting complex mechanical products such asHigh speed, document feeding, transportation, sorting & stacking mechanisms.Autonomous, fault tolerant media handling systems under the impact of climatic variations.Expert CAD Skills (ProE/Creo or Solidworks)A good understanding of mechanical drive systemsDrawing, dimensioning & tolerancing experienceStress and Tolerance analysis experienceDesign of Mechanisms experience would be an advantageExperience with Rapid prototyping technologiesA customer focused attitude and a sense of urgency around all activitiesHigh work standards and be good communicatorWilling to travel, globally e.g. customer sites for support or analysisThis company is an equal opportunity employer and value diversity.
