Job Description:
A leading engineering firm is seeking an experienced and innovative Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join its dynamic team. This role is crucial in the product development lifecycle, with a focus on the design and optimization of cutting-edge mechanical solutions. Expertise in Autodesk Inventor, Vault, and Mathcad is essential for transforming concepts into high-quality products.
The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will lead mechanical design projects, ensuring they meet the highest standards of precision, efficiency, and compliance with industry regulations. The role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams to drive excellence throughout the mechanical design process, from initial concept to final product delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Mechanical Design: Leading the design and development of electro-mechanical connectors and systems, utilizing Autodesk Inventor for 3D modeling, assembly design, and detailed drawings. Incorporating innovative solutions to meet performance, reliability, and manufacturability requirements.

Vault Management: Implementing and managing version control processes using Autodesk Vault. Ensuring proper documentation, organization, and revision tracking to facilitate collaboration within the team.

MathCAD Analysis: Performing engineering calculations and analysis using MathCAD to ensure the structural integrity, thermal performance, and reliability of electro-mechanical connectors and systems.

Technical Leadership: Assuming full responsibility for live and R&D design packages, including overseeing associated draftspeople. Checking and approving design packages, troubleshooting manufacturing/testing issues, and producing training material for engineering teams.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Working closely with electrical engineers, materials engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate mechanical designs into electro-mechanical systems. Collaborating with project managers to align project requirements and timelines.

Quality Assurance: Conducting thorough reviews of mechanical designs to ensure they meet industry standards, compliance requirements, and internal quality benchmarks. Establishing and enforcing quality control measures within the design process.

Innovation and Optimization: Staying current with emerging technologies and industry trends. Driving innovation and optimization in mechanical design processes to enhance efficiency and product performance.

Project Management: Managing multiple projects concurrently, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality mechanical designs. Providing technical leadership and guidance to the mechanical design team.

Documentation: Creating comprehensive technical documentation, including specifications, bills of materials (BOMs), and assembly instructions. Ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and company standards.

Qualifications:
Degree in Engineering or a related discipline, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
Post-graduate degree and Chartered Status are desirable.
Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and MathCAD.
Competence in FEA analysis and a strong understanding of engineering principles and data analysis.
Project management skills to organize tasks, manage timelines, and control budgets.
A balance of technical, commercial, and leadership experience to deliver complex projects on time and on budget.
A proactive mindset with a desire to drive continual improvement and take ownership of engineering activities.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
