Senior Payroll Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Senior to manage a portfolio of payroll clients from start to finish, including a variety of workplace pension schemes. The ideal candidate will possess strong organisational skills, the ability to work independently under pressure, and excellent communication abilities. This role requires liaising with HM Revenue & Customs, setting up new payroll clients, and providing advanced payroll work, including pension schemes and PAYE scheme closures.Responsibilities:Manage end-to-end payroll processing for a diverse portfolio of clients, ensuring accuracy and compliance.Liaise with clients and HM Revenue & Customs to provide expert payroll advice and address queries efficiently.Set up new payroll clients and manage PAYE scheme closures.Administer workplace pension schemes, ensuring compliance and accuracy.Lead and mentor junior payroll staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.Prepare and review payroll reports for internal and client use, ensuring high standards of data integrity.General Administrative Duties:Maintain files, records, and department databases.Handle ad hoc queries and provide support as needed.Complete tasks on spreadsheets and word documents for analysis and team development.Assist the manager and team members with organisational tasks.Provide recommendations to the Manager regarding client methods and procedures on payrolls.Qualifications & Experience:Strong experience in a payroll role within an Accountancy Practice or Payroll Bureau.Proficiency with payroll software (Sage or alternative).Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work accurately under pressure and manage multiple deadlines.This role includes a fantastic benefits package as well as excellent scope for progression.
