Our clients name became an industry byword for ‘trust,’ ‘quality,’ and ‘expertise.’ Founded in 1982 within the Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT), Our client was at the forefront of the renewables industry for nearly four decades, creating innovations that led the field.The Senior Planning Consultant role aims to position our client as a leading provider of renewable energy, planning, and EIA services in Scotland for the long-term future and beyond.The successful individual will serve as the primary advisor within the company on Scottish planning and EIA regulations.Key Responsibilities:Foster strong client relationships by deeply understanding market needs, refining service offerings, and effectively securing projectsTake charge of consultancy services and project delivery, including devising planning strategies, managing risks, drafting technical reports and supervising the preparation of Environmental Statements (ES)Handle planning appeals and represent clients at hearings with expertise and professionalismPrepare carefully crafted fee proposals, reports and policy responses of the highest qualityMaintain a thorough understanding of renewable energy development regulations and guidance, staying at the forefront of industry knowledgeManage both existing and new client relationships with care and attentionConduct comprehensive reviews of team work to ensure strict compliance with standardsEnsure strict adherence to Quality Management standards to uphold excellence in all operationsDrive the growth of planning and EIA business in Scotland through strategic initiatives.Provide oversight of project management and financial aspects to ensure smooth operationsOffer robust support for promotion and marketing efforts to enhance brand visibilityCultivate strong relationships with current and potential clients, fostering trust and loyaltyIdentify emerging markets and actively contribute to the development of new servicesParticipate in marketing activities and industry events to stay connected and informedDevelop a comprehensive EIA and planning strategy tailored to the specific needs of ScotlandProvide valuable input into departmental and company-wide strategies to drive overall successEnsure full compliance with our client's HSQE policies to maintain a safe and responsible work environmentEssential Criteria / Skills / QualificationsSignificant EIA project leadership experience in renewable energy, particularly onshore wind projects in ScotlandExperience in business growth within planning/EIA or similar fieldsDetailed knowledge of UK planning systems, preferably with formal EIA trainingStrong team working and leadership skillsAbility to manage specialist sub-consultantsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to convey complex information and resolve conflictsSelf-motivated with effective time management skillsProactive problem-solving abilityProficiency in Microsoft Word and ExcelWillingness to travel as neededDesirable / Non-Essential CriteriaMaster's level qualification in EIA and TCPA qualificationMembership in a relevant professional body such as IEMAExperience in remote workingFamiliarity with Microsoft Project and GIS software, WindFarmer, WindPro or AutoCADNext StepsThis is an exciting opportunity to join an exciting organisation, poised for significant growth across their business where for the right person there will be opportunities to develop and grow your own team of planners.With full backing from management and your peers to help drive this business forward, now has never been a better time to join our clients business.If you are looking for a secure working environment where no two days will be the same, click apply and a member of our team will be in touch soon to discuss your application further!
