We are located in a modern office near Marble Arch and there is the option for Hybrid working (up to 2 days from home).About The RoleThis role combines our philanthropic work with our policy and advocacy work. It will focus on the sustainable food system policy workstreams across JCF’s activities in either the United Kingdom, Europe or multilaterally, including the United Nations and others. We hope to advance the solution landscape by promoting the following outcomes:• Bridging the gap between the different solutions sustainable food systems have to offer including alternative proteins, regenerative agriculture, agroecology, and organic food systems.• Influencing national policies towards widely available sustainable foods.• Ensuring national policies do not hamper innovative solutions, promoting a level playing field in terms of policy and regulation.• Improving regulatory processes for sustainable food solutions.The role will also include collaborating with and convening other leading organisations globally to share best practice, ensuring organisations with a shared mission are achieving similar goals worldwide.Key Responsibilities• Policy advocacy: You will inform, advise, and influence policymakers and regulatorybodies about innovations, industry trends, and best-practice reforms in the food solutionlandscape.• Facilitation and presentation: You will present our work in a range of formats and to adiverse array of stakeholders. This will include small meetings as well as facilitatingroundtables and workshops, and presenting at conferences.• Build partnerships and collaborations: You will build partnerships and coordinateinternally across JCF’s policy activities.• Project management: You will manage your own policy work streams and where neededlead on managing activities such as policy events at key policy conferences.• Spot opportunities: You will spot opportunities to align key stakeholders on policy,including but not limited to narrative building and stakeholder alignment.Essential Criteria​• UK, EU or UN policy experience: You can drive policy change in the UK, EU or on the UNlevel. This can include concrete achievements working in a government, regulatory body,public institution, political party, NGO, think tank, industry association, public affairsagency, consulting firm, multilateral organisation, or other relevant institution.• Engaging key stakeholders: You have excellent people skills – you are able to influence,network, and build alliances. You are comfortable interacting with and influencing keystakeholders.• Assessing information: You can digest complex scientific and regulatory information,synthesise the findings, and communicate it in a clear and compelling way to the teamand external audiences.• Mission driven: You are looking for a job that is about making a difference. You arepassionate transforming our food system, with a strong understanding of how to thinkabout this strategically. You are outcome focused, with your eye on the prize of concreteoutcomes.• Enthusiastic and ambitious: You are motivated to get things done and be down to dowhatever is needed. Your ideas will be extremely important in our growth. You have astrong work ethic, a sense of ownership and able to drive outcomes.Desirable Criteria• Policy network: You have a strong existing network of contacts in the UK, EU or UN policyecosystem, particularly in sustainability, food, agriculture, health, technology, or climatechange.• Alternative protein and/or regenerative agriculture knowledge and network: Youunderstand and are interested in alternative proteins and/or regenerative agriculture,particularly as it relates to policy and policy reform. You have a strong existing network ofcontacts in those areas.• A degree or post graduate qualification in a relevant subject.
