We are expanding our project management team and are looking for a strategic, analytic and innovative leader who is persistent, encouraging, and motivating, to drive cross-jurisdictional and enterprise-wide projects. The Senior Portfolio Manager is responsible for the independent management of a portfolio of projects across 5 functional areas of the firm, and will lead a team of individuals in the delivery of these projects, with accountability for planning, execution and completion according to requirements, deadline and budget. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants across Walkers offices globally. Transparency and involvement of relevant stakeholders throughout the full project life cycle is critical to success. Furthermore the Senior Portfolio Manager will contribute to the continuous development of project and change capabilities and tools at Walkers. Duties, Responsibilities & Person Specification Build close relationships with the Executive Sponsors of each functional area within the portfolio, and act as their strategic partner in the delivery of their transformation agenda Lead the regular governance forums and Steering Committees associated with the functions aligned to the portfolio Manage blended teams of contractor, permanent and vendor resources in the delivery of the projects in the portfolio Act as a point of escalation for the project team for the support in resolving project related issues Support the project team in their engagement with key stakeholders from across the business and IT functions Build relationships with vendor delivery partners, in order to support the project team with resolution of issues Present updates on delivery & financial status to senior members of management within the firm Forecast resource demands in the delivery of the portfolio's project roadmap; develop & execute a sourcing/recruitment strategy to meet demand Work with key stakeholders across business and IT to conduct feasibility studies on new project ideas to determine delivery feasibility and benefits cases Responsible for the financial forecasting and spend management across the projects in the portfolio Support the development of transformation skills within GPD, developing best practices and tools for project execution and management Education, Skills & Experience Direct experience in portfolio or programme management, including all aspects of project development and execution Proven track record of excellent senior stakeholder management Bachelor s or master's degree in computer science, information systems, business administration, related field, or equivalent work experience Thorough knowledge of agile/iterative delivery Demonstrated ability to develop and execute a strategic resource plan. A background in management consultancy Legal or professional services experience an advantage. Globally recognised certification in project management (PMP, PRINCE II or similar). Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. Experience from remote management of project resources allocated by the line organisation. Strong change management skills and the ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, clients, and other departments. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to be persuasive, encouraging, and motivating. Strong analytic and written and oral communication skills. Walkers global is an equal opportunity employer.
