Senior Project Engineer - Highways

You will work on this large infrastructure project to optimise the engineering aspect ensuring this project comes in on time and within budget from an engineering perspective. This role is working in the Cambridgeshire / Bedfordshire region and whether you live in Hemel Hempstead, Watford, Welwyn Garden City, Uxbridge, Ealing, Stanmore, Rickmansworth, Waltham Cross, Edmonton, Walthamstow, Harlow, Hatfield, Potters Bar, Stevenage or the surrounding areas we would like to hear from you. /p p Here at Tarmac, we are working hard to create a dynamic and inclusive environment and its important that our people come from a variety of different backgrounds. /p b Main Responsibilities /b br p The b Senior Project Engineer /b will work within the team to deliver the highly strategic ongoing project that is fundamental for operational production and business growth for this JV. You will be the SME to ensure the project surfacing operations run safely, delivers first class customer service to our clients, drives efficiency improvements throughout the scheme. You will manage engineering on the contract from design information through to contract sign off, you will have the ability to problem solve, innovate, and drive engineering performance to the highest levels. /p p As the b Senior Project Engineer /b must be well-versed in all engineering surfacing construction methodologies and procedures and be able to coordinate a team of professionals of different disciplines to achieve the best results. The ideal candidate will have an analytical mind and great organisational skills. Your responsibilities will include (not exhaustive): /p ul li Have a proven track record of successful engineering Project / Programme delivery, knowledge of pave or surfacing engineering within multi-million-pound projects /li li Responsible for delivering the engineering aspect of the project road map and able to foresee issues and apply proactive problem solving techniques to overcome challenges, to remain on track to achieve key milestones / dates /li li Provide management, guidance and direction to the wider Project Delivery Team and support the General Manager to ensure that all objectives, aims and targets are achieved /li li Ensure that the team and business are fully compliant with all H&S, business policies, legal delivery requirements and procedures at all times for both our colleagues and contractors /li li Lead, manage and develop the team, optimising engagement, and overall team performance /li li Communication is key with colleagues, managers and contractors across the whole project to ensure all tasks are performed promptly, you must have the tact and diplomacy when dealing with tense situations that can arise at any moment during the project's life cycle /li li Where contractual issues arise, support the project commercial manager to recover these costs from within the project /li /ul p Key Stakeholders: Tarmac & JV Management Team Project Management Team - Area Operations Managers - Contractors Site Management - Supply Chain Technical Operations /p p You will hold a FULL UK manual car driving license with no more than 6 penalty points /p b The Ideal Candidate /b br p The successful applicant in the role will be instrumental in the future development and support of our culture.
