Senior Quantity Surveyor Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our esteemed client, a leading house builder known for their commitment to quality and innovation. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in managing and overseeing the financial aspects of residential projects, with a particular focus on developments up to 300 plots.

Senior Quantity Surveyor Responsibilities:

• Conducting feasibility studies to estimate materials, time, and labour costs.
• Preparing, negotiating, and analysing costs for tenders and contracts.
• Coordinating work efforts and ensuring project deadlines are met.
• Managing the costs of projects from initial calculations to the final figures.
• Performing risk, value management, and cost control.
• Advising on procurement strategy and selecting subcontractors.
• Identifying, analysing, and developing responses to commercial risks.
• Preparing and analysing costings for tenders.
• Allocating work to subcontractors.
• Providing advice on contractual claims.
• Maintaining awareness of the different building contracts in current use.
• Understanding the implications of health and safety regulations.

Senior Quantity Surveyor Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the house-building sector.
• Strong understanding of construction methods and materials.
• Excellent negotiation and analytical skills.
• Proficient in the use of relevant software (e.g., MS Office, project management software).
• Strong leadership abilities and team management experience.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
• A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Membership in relevant professional bodies (e.g., RICS) is desirable.
